The Department of Mathematics was established in 2006 under the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Firstly, the department started its undergraduate education with 40 students in the 2009-2010 academic year, started undergraduate secondary education in 2010-2011 and master's programs in 2011-2012.
The mission of the department that collects a dynamic and productive academic staff who can make important contributions to the science of mathematics at international level; It is to provide an educational environment in which young people who aim to be successful in business life and scientific studies are dominated by analytical thinkers who are far from memorizing, questioning, analyzing.
It aims to educate the students of the department to acquire the skill of application of mathematics in business world, science and technology in many fields.
In the first two years of the four-year program, our Department offers specializations in Applied Mathematics, Analysis and Functional Theory, Algebra and Numbers Theory, Topology and Geometry options, as well as compulsory courses as well as a wide selection of course electives.
Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the department, our department graduates can be employed in very different business areas.
As of 2021-2022 Education and Training, there are 2 Professors, 6 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors and 2 Research Assistants in our department.
Education
The department receives approximately 50 students each year. Students who successfully complete the undergraduate program of compulsory and elective courses graduate with the title of "Diploma of Science and Literature of Aksaray University" and "Mathematician". In addition to undergraduate education, there are graduate and doctoral degrees in the department.
Fields of Mathematicians
Graduates are able to work in computer-based jobs in private or public institutions because the courses given during the 4-year Undergraduate Program give them the basic knowledge and skills necessary to work both in mathematics and in the field of computers. In addition, with the information obtained in the field of Applied Mathematics, our graduates are Turkiye, TUBITAK, TMO, DPT, MTA, TEK, DSİ, SSI, ISE, or CENTRAL BANK. Can take part in official organizations. Graduates can also take formation courses and work as teachers in secondary education and private high schools and lecture halls on the conditions stipulated by the Ministry of National Education.
